Partial rules: Another class of derivative and potentially uninteresting rules

چکیده
A single base rule representing a fundamental inter-relationship between variables within a dataset can generate a large number of derivative rules. These are rules that appear interesting only due to the inter-relationship that is best represented by the base rule. This phenomena is well understood with respect to derivative rules formed by adding unproductive conditions to the antecedent of the base rule. We identify a new type of derivative rule that is formed by removing conditions from the antecedent of the base rule. We present statistically sound and computationally tractable techniques for detecting such rules, and experimental evidence that for some analytic tasks many such rules can be generated.

Pruning Derivative Partial Rules During Impact Rule Discovery
Because exploratory rule discovery works with data that is only a sample of the phenomena to be investigated, some resulting rules may appear interesting only by chance. Techniques are developed for automatically discarding statistically insignificant exploratory rules that cannot survive a hypothesis with regard to its ancestors. We call such insignificant rules derivative extended rules. In t...
متن کاملEfficiently Identifying Exploratory Rules' Significance
How to efficiently discard potentially uninteresting rules in exploratory rule discovery is one of the important research foci in data mining. Many researchers have presented algorithms to automatically remove potentially uninteresting rules utilizing background knowledge and user-specified constraints. Identifying the significance of exploratory rules using a significance test is desirable for...
متن کاملSOME FUNDAMENTAL RESULTS ON FUZZY CALCULUS
In this paper, we study fuzzy calculus in two main branches differential and integral. Some rules for finding limit and $gH$-derivative of $gH$-difference, constant multiple of two fuzzy-valued functions are obtained and we also present fuzzy chain rule for calculating $gH$-derivative of a composite function. Two techniques namely, Leibniz's rule and integration by parts are introduced for ...
متن کاملImproving Multiclass ILP by Combining Partial Rules with Winnow Algorithm: Results on Classification of Dopamine Antagonist Molecules
In this paper, we propose an approach which can improve Inductive Logic Programming in multiclass problems. This approach is based on the idea that if a whole rule cannot be applied to an example, some partial matches of the rule can be useful. The most suitable class should be the class whose important partial matches cover the example more than those from other classes. Hence, the partial mat...
متن کاملEfficient quadrature rules for a class of cordial Volterra integral equations: A comparative study
A natural algorithm with an optimal order of convergence is proposed for numerical solution of a class of cordial weakly singular Volterra integral equations. The equations of this class appear in heat conduction problems with mixed boundary conditions. The algorithm is based on a representation of the solution and compound Gaussian quadrature rules with graded meshes. A comparative stud...
